Anatomy Of A Money-Making Email Teaser
No matter what you sell… you’ll use email to help you sell it.
Whether you’re following up with customers and subscribers or sending cold emails to potential prospects you found on the web, email will play a part.
The structure of your email message is just as important as what you SAY in the message.
To craft an email that gets noticed, you must understand the anatomy of the perfect email marketing message.
When creating your email, consider the elements and structure in the following order:
Subject Line: The subject line is the first thing your recipient sees. You need to make it attention-grabbing and engaging. It should be clear, concise, and relevant to the content of the message.
Consider using a catchy phrase or question to draw the reader in.
By the way, one of the most successful email subject lines I ever used was “This blew me away!”
Greeting: The greeting should be friendly and professional. If possible, personalize it by addressing the recipient by name.
Many marketers will tell you NOT to ask for name along with the email when signing people up. I disagree. I always get the name so we can personalize the emails we send.
Introduction: Introduce yourself and explain why you are sending the email. Be sure to keep it brief, but include enough information to intrigue the reader.
Example: Jim Edwards here with a quick tip for all my authors who want to sell more books!
Body: The body of the email is the main message. Make it concise and to the point. Visuals can help to break up the text and draw the reader’s attention.
Give them just enough information to make them hungry for more so they take the next step (Click, call, etc.).
Call to Action: Make it very clear what you want the reader to do. Make sure to include a link or a button they can click to take the desired action. Tie in the big benefit with the call to action if at all possible.
Example: Click Here to start making more book sales today!
Closing: Your closing should be friendly yet professional, but above all, short!
Now is not the time to do anything other than finish up the email. Don’t introduce any other ideas or make comments.
PS: After your closing, use the PS to restate the big idea of the email and give another call to action.
Example: PS: This webinar will show you exactly how to make more book sales. Click here now to register!
Signature: Include contact information and links to your website, help desk, or social media accounts as appropriate so the reader can easily get more information or contact you if necessary.
Unsubscribe Link: Always include a link or information on how they can get off your list, preferably automatically. Nothing will get you into hot water faster than sending email repeatedly to people who don’t want to receive it.
By following this structure, you can craft an email marketing message that stands out from the crowd and gets clicked. Remember, it’s all about creating a message that is clear, concise, and compelling.
