A Note From Jim
If You Want To Crush It With Your Next Webinar, Don’t Miss Any Of These 8 Real-World Tips
1. Keep It Under 1 Hour
Statistics show that you have a MASSIVE drop off at the 60-minute mark… people either get bored, or they must move on to the next item on their schedule.
(And before you ask, YES, this 60 minutes INCLUDES the pitch!)
2. Focus On ONE Big Idea
People can handle one big idea… make sure the promise of the webinar is specific, immediate, understandable, and believable.
3. Keep It Moving!
Do NOT spend more than 30 seconds talking without something happening on the screen (preferably 10 seconds or less).
Text, pictures, video, graphics… ANYTHING… but have the visuals changing constantly otherwise viewers will get bored.
4. Get Excited!
Nothing will lose your audience faster than a monotone presentation that sounds like Lurch from the Addams Family.
If you’re not excited, your audience sure won’t get worked up (and will NOT buy).
5. Use Interactivity To Build Engagement
- Polls
- Q&A
- Guest / audience participation
- Easy, quick assignments
- Trivia
Get the folks involved so your webinar is NOT just a passive watching event… turn it into an experience.
6. Know Your Audience
Nothing sucks for the audience more than a presenter who knows nothing about them droning on about stuff they could care less about… do your homework before you open your mouth!
(I know… this sounds obvious, but watch a few webinars and see how many people screw this up).
7. Bribe Them To Stay Until The End
Hey… if you gotta bribe them to stay ’til the end, DO IT!
The more eyeballs on the pitch, the better your chances.
8. Increase Live Attendance With Exclusive Content
Get people to show up live with the promise of exclusive content that will NOT be on the replay.
Make a big deal out of it… and then have slides that say, “CUT From Replay” to make it super clear this is the “good stuff!”

But, before you run out and cancel your Zoom or GotoWebinar account, here are a few thoughts to ponder.
People believe webinars are “dead” because someone told them webinars aren’t working anymore. (I’ve had people literally tell me, “So-and-so said webinars don’t work anymore!”)
They’re dead wrong and here’s why
“this is absolutely an “automation- magic-wand” tool that does all the promo parts for you”
“Marketing is about math – not magic… but this is absolutely an “automation- magic-wand” tool that does all the promo parts for you! So glad I came today, so grateful for the super saver offer. This is a biz-building no-brainer.”
